Locals: SCYTHE Interview

Who are you? How old are you?

My names Luke Camilleri, just turned 24, people also know me by my nickname “Farmer”. Previously my alias was FRMR but I’ve launched a new project with my new alias “Scythe”

How many months/ years have you been Djing / producing?

I had been experimenting for around a year and started to take it fully seriously around 5 years ago; meanwhile I’ve been producing for around 4 years.

Mention an artist that inspired you to become a DJ/producer?

At the time I used to love Gesaffelstein, Randomer and Blawan, all of which inspired me to start my journey in producing / DJing. As time passed my influences have changed greatly though, with Viper Diva and B2 being some of my current influences.

Is there a local artist that you look up to and love to see play at events?

Alek Sane was definitely one of my favorites, his sets were always on point and most closely fit my style at the time. Currently Inverted is one of my local favourites, his style is very unique and he’s very dedicated to what he does.

What skills do you think DJs need to be successful?

Honestly for me it’s always been about being able to read a crowd, at the end of the day if the crowds enjoying themselves and getting lost in the music, you’re doing your job as a DJ and leaving an imprint on them, which is one of the most important things to do in my opinion.

How do you stay up to date with the latest music trends?

Currently Soundcloud has been really helping me with that, with how it’s structured it makes it really easy to dig for new music. What I find also helps is following your favorite artists on Social Media, listening to their sets and inspiring yourself from them.

What would you say is the most rewarding part of being a DJ?

For me it has always been the reaction you get from the crowd, being able to connect on that level with the crowd through a set you’re constructing yourself has always been mind blowing for me and is definitely the most rewarding part of being a DJ.
