Who are you? How old are you?
I am Phynyks, also known as Chris Nooke, and my real name is Christian Xerri.
How many months/ years have you been Djing / producing?
I have been DJing and producing for 16 years since discovering electronic music at the age of 14.
Mention an artist that inspired you to become a DJ/producer?
There are too many incredible artists to mention all of them, but their diverse styles and techniques have undoubtedly inspired me to become a DJ/producer.
What skills do you think DJs need to be successful?
I believe that successful DJs need technical proficiency to master equipment, such as turntables, CDJs, mixers, and software, ensuring seamless track mixing and sound manipulation. Strong music selection skills enable them to curate sets that resonate with the audience, while the ability to blend tracks seamlessly adds an extra layer of artistry, enhancing the flow and energy of the performance. Engaging the crowd through thoughtful song arrangements and creative mixing techniques creates an immersive and memorable experience.
In today’s society, having a strong presence on social media platforms is essential for success too, as it allows DJs to connect with fans, promote their brand, and attract new opportunities.
How do you stay up to date with the latest music trends?
To stay up to date with the latest music trends, I primarily rely on platforms like Beatport and Spotify, where I explore new releases and discover emerging artists. Additionally, I keep myself informed by listening to recorded DJ mixes and following influential DJs on Instagram for insights into current trends.
