Locals: GEORG Interview

Who are you? How old are you?

Hi my name is Georg, and I am 25 years old.

How many months/ years have you been Djing / producing?

I have been Djing and experimenting in music since I was just 15 years old. I bought my first controller a year later. I got my first public gig in December 2018.

Mention an artist that inspired you to become a DJ/producer?

Well not taking in consideration the EDM days that made the Djing life at that age look super cool , later on I was always intrigued by Richie Hawtin’s style of mixing and music. I remember listening to his “Ex” album under the Plastikman alias over and over. I think that was the moment I wanted to give Djing more importance in my life.

Is there a local artist that you look up to and love to see play at events?

It’s a guaranteed good time when the up-and-coming Human Safari is on a line up. His recent releases are top quality and I think he’s going to be very successful not only in the local scene.

What skills do you think DJs need to be successful?

I’m a firm believer that track selection , reading the crowd, being versatile and humble are the most important things one needs to be a successful DJ. The technique is obviously important but once you have the above mentioned, that would come with practice.

How do you stay up to date with the latest music trends?

Mostly by making use of music portals online, social media , attending different types of events with different styles of music both locally and abroad.

What would you say is the most rewarding part of being a DJ?

The most rewarding part in my opinion is seeing a crowd of people dancing to the vibe you create for them and letting go of their differences and emotions on the dancefloor. There is nothing more satisfying than this.
