How many months/ years have you been Djing / producing?
I have been djing for around 4 years but broke out in the last 2 years.Im still relevantly new to the production world I’ve been experimenting for the last 2 years.
Why do you want to share your music?
I am a lover of narratives, in all shapes and form. When I create dj sets be it for home use or for a club, I always try to build a narrative with the sounds, loops and tracks I select. Irrelevant of genres.
Matthias (Matte), David (Dave Space) and I created Midnite Snack for this. As lovers of multiple genres within the electronic sphere we sought out to invite artists and create sets with no genre lock, to encourage the idea that a club night calls for multiple genres and feelings.
Mention an artist that inspired you to become a DJ/producer?
Its really hard for me to mention one particular artist but my biggest influence is probably Mall Grab.
I started obsessing over electronic music heavily during the lofi phase which exposed me to the very early stages of Mall Grab and the likes of Kettama, Baltra, Ross from Friends, Rudolf C and Viers. All of whom have evolved past their initial sound.
Is there a local artist that you look up to and love to see play at events?
There are few things I love more than hearing Sean Rickett melt a dancefloor with nothing more than his record collection. His unpredictability and suaveness is very hard to measure which adds to him being probably the most fun dj you could witness. If its deep shimmering Techno to fast hip swaying breakbeat or pumping house, Rickett knows no boundaries.
Gordon Flash is also a Dj who effortlessly takes the dance floor to different dimensions. His influence is big on me and huge on the underground circuit. From his surgical selection stitching any genre together, to his humbleness Flash is a great role model for any dj.
I am also a big fan of the other Midnite Snack residents Matte & Dave Space. After every club night and garage session we share together, they always inspire me and help me push myself, my skill further and selection further.
